This book sparked a significant and helpful shift in my healing journey. The perspective of trauma in the context of biology, general health and brain development positively changed my life.
This book was a necessary read that supported me between heavier topics. It helped promote self-reflection, challenge my ego, all while allowing better conceptualization of “our place in this world,” and encouraging mindfulness.

Another 5-start read to align concepts of trauma with consideration to healing the mind, body, spirit; in context of biology, neuroscience & overall wellness.
Stillness Speaks references concepts from various religions. The concepts mentioned from Tao Te Ching spoke to me the most, and I’m beyond grateful for this book’s impact on my life and mindset.
Another solid explanation of trauma. Probably a less triggering of a read than The Boy Who Was Raised As a Dog, for someone just starting their healing journey.
These books are a great jumpstart to new perspectives, but I strongly suggest combining this with licensed therapy with a professional qualified and equipped to help you through processing your story.
